Recreation

Our Recreational Program is intended for entry-level players and players that are interested in entry-level and/or recreational soccer. The Recreational Program is for players 8 years old through 17 years old that wish to participate in soccer in a recreational setting.

For 2013, the cost is $255 + $100 volunteer deposit. The volunteer deposit is paid once for each family.

Recreational teams typically start in late July and participate in programs through November. Registration begins in March and closes at the end of May 31st. Late registration is allowed, but a fee of $30 will be assessed.

Recreational teams play in a DUSL Recreational league consisting of teams from Dublin. Older age groups sometimes play against neighboring clubs. In the Recreational League, games will have referees, wins and losses will be recorded and standings will be kept. At the end of the regular season, there is a recreational tournament, Dublin Cup, for U10, U12 and U14 age brackets. In addition, 1st place finishers in each of the leagues will be offered a chance to play in the Crossroads Tournament, which features the 1st place finishers from all of the Tri-Valley Clubs.

Team Formation
The Recreational League forms equally skilled and balanced teams in the following age groups:

  • U10 (8 and 9 year olds) – Girls and Boys (played entirely within Dublin)
  • U12 (10 and 11 year olds) – Girls and Boys (played between Dublin and 1 other Clubs in the Tri-Valley area)
  • U14 (12 and 13 year olds) – Girls and Boys (played between Dublin and other Clubs in the Tri-Valley area)
  • U16 – Girls and Boys (This is Traveling Recreational where teams play other Tri-Valley Club teams)
  • U19 – Girls and Boys (This is Traveling Recreational where teams play other Tri-Valley Club teams)

Team sizes vary depending on the age group. Generally, there 12 players placed on a team playing 8 v 8 (U10s), and up to 18 players placed on teams playing 11 v 11. These players will be placed on teams by early July and team practices and training will begin in mid-July to early august. There will be parent head coach(s) for each team.

Teams will practice from up to 2x a week. All practices are 1.5 hours long. In addition, there will be regularly scheduled professional training provided to all Recreational teams. These sessions will generally be 1 hour long and led by DUSL’s professional Staff.

In addition to the normal professional training provided to the teams, DUSL has an ID program that provides one additional weekly training session. The ID program is designed for those players who have a high degree of athleticism, good to advanced soccer skills, as well as a love for the game of soccer. The ID training is the stepping stone for those players the DUSL staff considers have the ability to play at a higher level, DUSL’s competitive program. Attendance is based on coach recommendation and information can be obtained from your coach.
